HELP-PORTRAIT 201112.12.11

So another Help-Portrait has come and gone, and as usual, it was an amazing experience.  There is something about this event that just warms my heart and I look forward to it every year.  This years event came together in just one week and it went off flawlessly.  A testament of the professionalism of everyone involved.  It was amazing.  Seriously.  We shot close to 60 families between 5 photographers, but the star of the show was Lacey who was our lone make up artist and worked the entire day, and rarely got a break.  Props.  This year, three people really touched me, I haven’t been able to stop thinking about them all weekend and I honestly can’t wait to deliver them their photos, so I just wanted to share a few shots of them.  Seeing a young guy so appreciative and so stoked about what we were doing was mind blowing, and getting a big hug and a kiss from an old lady after showing her a photo of her and husband is pretty much the best thing ever.  With that said, thanks to Jo, Joe, Graham, Matt, Deb, Jen, Lacey, and everyone else involved, can’t wait for next year (Southern Maryland maybe?)!

Luke + Blake – Old Town Alexandria Virginia Pet and Family Photographer12.07.11

It’s no secret that I love dogs, the bigger the better for me (sorry Blake, I like big dogs and I cannot lie, but I still love you).  Everytime I see Luke + Blake, it makes me want another one.  After the passing of our Tucker last January, we’ve been talking about getting another dog, but always put it off due to Ellie’s young age.  But Walter and Yelena’s Luke, a Golden Doodle, reminds me so much of Tucker and makes me want to instantly get another puppy.  It’s always a pleasure to see Walter and Yelena, and their two pups, I had a blast photographing them this past Saturday and look forward to seeing them again soon!  Thanks again guys!Old Town Alexandria Pet & Family Photography

The Thorns Part 1 – Southern Maryland Family Photographer11.26.11

I had the distinct privilege of spending the majority of the day with the entire Thorn family this week, starting first with Eric and Diane and their two adorable kids Evan and Juliette. It was both a blast and a challenge since the session started at 2pm with full sun, but we were able to soldier through it and capture some great moments.

Zack Arias’ OneLight Workshop – Southern Maryland Photographer – Greg Keysar10.18.11

For years I’ve wanted to attend Zack Arias’ OneLight Workshop and for countless reasons I’ve never been able to attend, until now.  I was super stoked to finally meet Zack and finally get to hear him speak in person.  It was a great honor and he’s one of the nicest guys in the business, and totally an open book.  Much respect to him and what he does.   I also had the great pleasure of meeting many new wonderful photographers from the area, hope to keep in touch with you guys.  The workshop was held at the new Union 206 Studio in Old Town Alexandria, Virgina which is a really great space and hope to work there some more in the future.  Charles did a really great job setting the place up.

She’s mobile! – Southern Maryland Photographer09.29.11

My little Ellie is growing up so fast, she’s 10.5 months now and is now mobile.  She went from stationary to zipping across the floors in a blink of an eye.  It’s amazing.  I got home today and she was awake from her nap, just hanging out in her crib playing with her pacifier, when I walked up to her, she took it out and tried to shove it in my mouth.  Her personality is really coming out, again, it’s amazing.  Anyway, I took her out and put her on mom and dads messy bed, opened up the windows, grabbed the camera and had a blast with her.  Love this little girl.  God has truly blessed Krista and I.

No more stationary Ellie, she’s all over the place now which means lots of out of focus photos from dad! :(

La Plata Maryland Family Photographer – Ava09.20.11

I was contacted by Jessica back in June to photograph her little girl, Ava when they came up to visit Jessica’s aunt in La Plata, Maryland.  Her aunt has an amazing backyard and was the perfect setting for family portraits.   Ava is a sweet heart and I had a great time photographing her and her wonderful family.

Oxon Hill Manor Wedding Photography – Andrea + June09.12.11

It’s always refreshing to meet a young couple, who’s both in love and down for whatever.  That pretty much describes Andrea and June.  I met Andrea through a friend of her’s whom I photographed earlier this year.  Andrea and June are two the most sincere and down to earth people I’ve ever met.  It was pouring down rain, just minutes before the ceremony was to begin, and Andrea wasn’t phased one bit.  We were shooting her portraits in the hallway upstairs of the Oxon Hill Manor and I remember looking out the window and noticing it was just dumping rain outside.  Andrea looked outside and I could tell she wasn’t too pleased about it, so I asked how she was doing, and she said something that took me aback, “I’m not that worried about it, I’m fine”.  She rolled with the punches and hoped for the best, and the best is what she got.  The rain subsided leaving just enough time to dry chairs off and get guest seated outside in the beautiful Oxon Hill Manor court yard.  Like Andrea, June was just as down to earth and it was great to see him serenade his bride both during the ceremony and again during the reception.  I felt right at home with both Andrea and June, and their families.  I wish you guys the best and thanks for sharing your day with me!
